Teacher Training – Building Skills for Long-Term Literacy Impact

September 22, 2025In Inside TLP1 Minutes

A library full of books is a powerful resource, but its true potential is unlocked when teachers are equipped to use it effectively. At The Library Project, we pair every program with teacher training, ensuring educators have the tools and confidence to make reading a central part of their teaching.

Teacher training sessions cover practical strategies, such as organizing reading activities, integrating books into subject lessons, and encouraging students to explore books independently. Teachers also learn how to support struggling readers, build inclusive reading environments, and create activities that make reading enjoyable.

The impact of this training is clear. Students in classrooms where teachers actively use library resources are more likely to borrow books, participate in reading groups, and develop stronger reading habits. Teachers also report increased confidence in fostering literacy, even in schools with limited resources.

In 2025, every Reading Room, Reading Corner, Book Donation, and Children’s Literacy Bag program included teacher training. This ensures that our investments in books and libraries have long-term benefits. By empowering educators, we are laying the foundation for future generations.

Sustainable literacy development requires more than just books—it requires teachers who can inspire children to read, learn, and grow. That is why teacher training remains a cornerstone of our work.
