Reading Rooms
Reading Rooms provide an entire school with access to high-quality educational books. The schools that receive Reading Rooms are generally larger schools in rural communities. These schools have between 200-900 students in total, who each gain access to the school’s Reading Room.
Reading Rooms are donated to schools that already have the infrastructure for a school library. Instead of constructing a room, The Library Project visits the school and works with the local education department to use space the school already has. We turn large, empty rooms into beautiful new children’s libraries for schools.

Teacher Training, Monitoring, and Ongoing Support
The Library Project provides a comprehensive teacher training course for the teachers and administrators at each library that is donated. We see this as essential to every library donation.
Our teacher training course focuses on how to properly manage their new library and making sure it stays in good condition. The course provides teachers with ways to use books in their classrooms, how to work with other teachers to use their school library, and educates teachers on how to create a system for their school to allow students to check-out books to read at home.
We have found that this training course results in 94% of our libraries being effectively used on a daily-to-weekly basis after the first year. The Library Project conducts one-year of monitoring & evaluation, and when schools need support, they receive additional training.
Measuring Our Results
At The Library Project, we believe measuring our impact is important.
