Our Mission
At The Library Project, we believe that every child deserves access to books, a safe place to read, and the chance to reach their full potential through education. We work to improve children’s literacy by building libraries in rural schools and community centers, training teachers to inspire young readers, and helping parents nurture a love of reading at home.
Who We Are
Founded in 2006, The Library Project began with a simple idea: to donate two libraries to orphanages in Dalian, China. What started as a small act of generosity has grown into a movement that has provided thousands of libraries and millions of books to children globally.
Today, our team works closely with local governments, schools, community centers, and partner organizations to ensure that every library we build reflects the needs of its community. Our approach combines access to high-quality local language books, training, and long-term monitoring. This creates environments where reading becomes a lifelong habit.
What We Do
We build more than libraries; we build opportunities for children to learn, grow, and dream. Through programs such as our Reading Rooms, Reading Corners, and Literacy Bags, we provide access to resources that meet children and communities where they are.
Our Teacher Training programs equip educators with practical strategies to engage students in reading, while our Global Literacy Partnerships expand our reach beyond borders, supporting schools and NGOs around the world.
We measure success not just by the number of books donated, but by the children reading them; their growing curiosity, confidence, and imagination. You can explore our results on Our Impact page.
Our Partners
Our work is made possible through partnerships with individuals, companies, students, and NGOs who share our belief that literacy changes lives. Together, we are creating brighter futures, one book at a time. If you would like to learn how you can get involved, you can visit our Partner With Us page.
Our Vision
We envision a world where every child, regardless of background or geography, can read, learn, and achieve their individual potential. Each library we build brings us closer to that vision, opening doors to education, equality, and opportunity through the simple, transformative power of books.
