FORVIA Foundation Grant Brings 45 STEAM Reading Corners to Rural China

The Library Project is proud to announce new support from the FORVIA Foundation. Through this grant, 45 STEAM Reading Corners will be established in rural elementary schools in China, providing students with access to books and resources that encourage exploration in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

Reading Corners are a core program of The Library Project. Each Reading Corner transforms a classroom into a welcoming space for daily reading and learning. Equipped with age-appropriate books on a welcoming bookshelf, these spaces create opportunities for both independent and group study. With a STEAM focus, these Reading Corners will encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity. Learn more about the program on our Reading Corner page.

To ensure long-term impact, all teachers at participating schools will participate in a one-year training program. This training equips educators with the skills to integrate the Reading Corners into their daily lessons, strengthening both literacy and STEAM-based learning. The program will also undergo comprehensive monitoring and evaluation to measure usage and outcomes, ensuring accountability and effectiveness.

The selection of books is guided by The Library Project’s Book Content Core Values. These values emphasize STEAM education, inclusion and diversity, environmental protection, girls’ education, promoting world peace, and nurturing the heart and mind. By following these principles, children gain access to books that not only build literacy but also expand perspectives.

FORVIA Foundation’s support enables us to bring STEAM-focused Reading Corners to rural schools, where access to such resources is often limited,” said Tom Stader, Executive Director & Founder of The Library Project. “We are grateful for their commitment to education and to the students we serve.”
