The Library Project Partners with Read to Rise to Support Literacy in South Africa

The Library Project is pleased to announce a new partnership with Read to Rise, which expands our global network of literacy organizations and strengthens our shared commitment to improving children’s access to books and reading support in South Africa.

Through this partnership, The Library Project and Read to Rise will implement Reading Corners in South African schools. A Reading Corner brings a curated collection of children’s books directly into classrooms where access to reading materials may be limited. Each Reading Corner includes age-appropriate books, child-safe bookshelves, and teacher support to help ensure the books are used regularly and effectively.

These classroom-based libraries create welcoming spaces where students can explore stories, strengthen reading habits, and develop a lifelong love of reading. By placing books within easy reach of children, Reading Corners help make reading a regular part of the school day and support teachers in encouraging literacy development.

“We are honored to welcome Read to Rise to The Library Project’s Global Partnership initiative,” said Thomas Stader, Founder and Executive Director of The Library Project. “Read to Rise shares our belief that access to books is essential to literacy development. We look forward to working together to equip classrooms, support teachers, and help more children in South Africa discover the joy of reading.”

This partnership represents a shared commitment to practical, data-informed, and impactful literacy development. Together, The Library Project and Read to Rise will support schools, strengthen classroom learning environments, and help empower the next generation of readers.
