The Library Project Partners with Pharo Foundation to Expand Literacy in Somalia and Somaliland

The Library Project is pleased to announce a new partnership with Pharo Foundation, expanding our global network of literacy organizations and supporting children’s access to books in rural areas of Somalia and Somaliland.

Through this partnership, The Library Project and Pharo Foundation will work together to provide targeted Book Donations to schools and learning spaces where access to high-quality, age-appropriate reading materials is limited. These donations will place books directly into classrooms and reading areas, creating new opportunities for students to read, learn, and build confidence.

The Library Project’s Book Donation program is designed to put books into the hands of children who need them most. By supporting classroom libraries and well-resourced reading spaces, the program helps schools provide students with recurring access to books throughout the school day. This consistent access encourages daily reading habits, strengthens literacy development, and supports teachers in creating more engaging learning environments.

“We are honored to welcome Pharo Foundation to The Library Project’s Global Partnership initiative,” said Thomas Stader, Founder and Executive Director of The Library Project. “Their commitment to expanding educational opportunities in Somalia and Somaliland aligns closely with our mission to improve children’s literacy. We look forward to working together to provide schools with the books and resources they need to support young readers.”

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to practical, community-centered literacy development. Together, The Library Project and Pharo Foundation will help expand access to books, strengthen school learning environments, and support children in rural communities as they build the reading skills needed for lifelong learning.
