Sibionics Supports Literacy and STEAM Education in Rural Henan

The Library Project is pleased to announce the donation of six Reading Corners to a rural elementary school in Henan, China. Made possible by the generous support of Sibionics, this initiative provided the school with 480 Chinese-language children’s books, six STEAM science experiment kits, and one globe. The donation directly benefits all 102 students attending grades 1 through 6 by expanding access to books and educational resources that support literacy, learning, and exploration.

Located in a rural community, the school serves students who have limited access to classroom library resources. By bringing books directly into classrooms, the Reading Corners ensure that students can engage with reading throughout the school day. The addition of STEAM science experiment kits and a globe further enriches the learning experience by encouraging students to explore science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics, as well as the world around them.

Reading Corners are a core program of The Library Project. Each Reading Corner equips a classroom with a dedicated collection of STEAM-focused books covering Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. By situating libraries directly within classrooms, students and teachers have immediate access to educational resources that support lesson plans, independent reading, and daily learning activities. Classroom libraries make it easier for children to discover new interests, build reading habits, and strengthen critical thinking skills. More information about this program can be found on our Reading Corners page.

At The Library Project, we recognize that teachers play a critical role in the success of every library program. To support the long-term impact of this initiative, all teachers at the school will participate in a one-year teacher training program. Through on-site training, online training, regional workshops, national trainings, and ongoing support, educators will learn strategies for effectively integrating Reading Corners into classroom instruction. The program will also undergo comprehensive monitoring and evaluation to ensure both usage and measurable impact over time.

Book selection for each Reading Corner follows The Library Project’s Book Content Core Values. These values emphasize STEAM education, inclusion and diversity, environmental protection, girls’ education, promoting world peace, and nurturing the heart and mind. By incorporating these themes into classroom libraries, students gain access to books that not only strengthen literacy skills but also encourage empathy, creativity, global awareness, and a broader understanding of the world.

“We are grateful for Sibionics’ support of children’s literacy and education,” said Tom Stader, Executive Director & Founder of The Library Project. “This donation provides students with books, STEAM resources, and opportunities to learn both inside and outside the classroom. We appreciate Sibionics’ commitment to helping children in rural communities access the tools they need to succeed.”

The Library Project remains committed to improving literacy opportunities for children in underserved communities. Through partnerships with organizations like Sibionics, we can continue providing books, educational resources, teacher training, and ongoing support that help students develop the skills and confidence needed for lifelong learning.
