The Library Project is pleased to share the results of our 2025 programs in China, reflecting another year of steady progress in expanding access to books and strengthening literacy in underserved communities.

Throughout the year, The Library Project supported 48 rural elementary schools. Through a combination of Reading Rooms, Reading Corners, and targeted Book Donations, these programs reached approximately 19,000 students, helping to create environments where reading can become part of daily life.

In 2025, The Library Project established 16 Reading Rooms, 191 Reading Corners, and 6 dedicated Book Donations. Together, these efforts resulted in the distribution of more than 47,000 Chinese-language children’s books. Each space was designed to provide students with consistent access to age-appropriate, engaging reading materials within their schools.

In addition to school-based programs, The Library Project continued to expand access to books at home. A total of 3,011 Children’s Literacy Bags were distributed to rural and migrant families, helping to build home libraries and encourage reading beyond the classroom. These take-home resources play an important role in reinforcing literacy habits and supporting family engagement in children’s education.

Teacher support remained a central focus throughout the year. The Library Project delivered children’s reading curriculum and book management training to 1,200 rural teachers. These trainings equip educators with practical tools to effectively use library resources, integrate reading into daily instruction, and foster a culture of literacy within their schools.

“Our work in China continues to demonstrate the importance of combining access to books with teacher training and community engagement,” said Tom Stader, Executive Director & Founder of The Library Project. “We are proud of what our team and partners have accomplished this year, and we remain committed to expanding these efforts in the years ahead.”

These 2025 results reflect The Library Project’s long-term commitment to improving children’s literacy through practical, scalable programs. By focusing on access, training, and community involvement, we continue to support students, teachers, and families in building strong foundations for lifelong learning.
