Books and Literacy for Children Across Bhutan
Education has been at the heart of Loden Foundation since the organization began in 1999. Now, as The Library Project’s newest Global Partner, we have an opportunity to add children’s literacy and greater access to books to that long-standing commitment.
Based in Bhutan, Loden Foundation works to remove barriers to education while helping children and young people develop not only academic skills, but also qualities such as curiosity, critical thinking, empathy, and resilience. Its education work includes Early Learning Centres, school sponsorship, scholarships, and youth development initiatives.
Building Stronger Reading Environments
The Library Project will support Loden Foundation’s work with libraries and rural schools through Book Donations and Literacy Programs, bringing together access to reading materials with opportunities for children to strengthen their skills.
Our goal is to help schools create environments where books are not simply available, but actively used. New collections can introduce children to more stories, ideas, and information, while literacy activities can encourage regular reading and help young learners become more comfortable and confident with books.
This partnership builds naturally on Loden’s existing education work. Since 2008, the organization has supported early childhood education in Bhutan and established Early Learning Centres in multiple communities, including rural areas where access to educational resources can be more limited.

Through our Global Partnerships initiative, The Library Project works with locally led nonprofit organizations to strengthen and expand children’s literacy programs worldwide. We provide funding, capacity building, fundraising support, and free resources to help our partners grow their impact and reach more children.
