A New Library on the First Day of School

The Library Project (TLP) donated a beautiful Reading Room to a rural primary school located in Hebei, China on the first day of the Fall School Semester.  149 students benefited from the donation of over 1000 local language children’s books, bright tables, kid sized chairs and sturdy shelving.  This donation was made possible because of a generous donation from Jurlique.  Jurlique is one of TLP’s incredible Strategic Partners.  Without them we could not do what we do.

It’s wonderful to see the students getting involved and lending a helping hand in the creation of their school library.

The library donation also received a Teacher Training component. TLP’s Teacher Training Course is a comprehensive multiple year training program supporting teachers and administrators on how to manage and utilize their new library. This course covers how to properly loan books to students, how to use the children’s books in a classroom setting, and how to get the students involved in the maintenance of their library. Coupled with the Teacher Training Course, TLP will conduct three years of Monitoring & Evaluation.  When a school is in need of support, it will receive additional training for teachers.

Huge thank you to everyone at Jurlique for making this happen, our volunteers and the 14 teaching staff at this very special school.
