Strengthening Literacy and Learning in Rural Cambodia

August 28, 2026In Cambodia3 Minutes

For children in rural communities, strong reading skills can influence far more than what happens during a literacy lesson. They can help children participate more fully in school, keep pace with their classmates, and build a stronger foundation for continued learning.

That shared focus brings The Library Project together with Temple Garden Foundation, our newest Global Partner in Cambodia.

Supporting Children Throughout Their Learning Journey

Temple Garden Foundation works closely with rural schools to address challenges that can prevent children from succeeding in their education. Its programs include early childhood education, supplementary classes for students needing additional support, Khmer literacy, teacher development, and improvements to school libraries.

The Library Project will support libraries and Literacy Programs in rural elementary schools, adding new resources and reading opportunities to the educational foundation TGF has already built.

Our partnership will help schools strengthen their libraries as places children want to visit while supporting literacy activities that encourage regular reading and help students develop foundational skills. Together, these approaches can give children both access to books and the support needed to use them meaningfully.

“Temple Garden Foundation understands that helping children succeed requires consistent support throughout their education,” said Tom Stader, Executive Director & Founder of The Library Project. “We are excited to contribute our experience in libraries and literacy and work together to help more children in rural Cambodia develop strong reading skills.”

Through our Global Partnerships initiative, The Library Project works with locally led nonprofit organizations to strengthen and expand children’s literacy programs worldwide. We provide funding, capacity building, fundraising support, and free resources to help our partners grow their impact and reach more children.

Support our work to ensure that children in rural communities have access to books and meaningful opportunities to read. Your contribution helps The Library Project partner with organizations like Temple Garden Foundation to build stronger literacy programs where children live and learn.
