Strengthening Children’s Literacy in Panama
Learning to read takes practice, encouragement, skilled teachers, and plenty of time with books.
That shared belief is bringing The Library Project and Fundación ProEd together as Global Partners. Based in Panama, ProEd combines literacy instruction for children with professional development for educators, helping strengthen both sides of the learning experience.
Adding Books to a Strong Literacy Foundation
The Library Project will support children’s book donations for Fundación ProEd’s literacy programs, adding new reading materials to the tools already being used with young learners.
ProEd’s approach to literacy emphasizes foundational skills including vocabulary, reading fluency, comprehension, and the enjoyment of reading and writing. Its ProEd Kids program brings this work directly to elementary students, while its educator programs help teachers develop practical strategies for supporting children as they learn to read.
Our partnership will help ensure that children participating in these programs also have access to books they can explore, discuss, and enjoy, turning literacy instruction into more opportunities to experience reading firsthand.
