Supporting Children and Teachers in Malawi
Strong literacy programs depend on both books and the people who help children discover how to use them.
That idea is at the center of The Library Project’s new partnership with The Makazi Foundation, our newest Global Partner in Malawi. The organization works with children and youth through education and community-based initiatives, and has already trained more than 50 teachers as part of its broader work with schools and young people.
Building Stronger Reading Environments
The Library Project will support rural elementary schools through Reading Corners, Book Donations, Teacher Training, and Literacy Programs, helping bring together the resources and support children need to develop stronger reading skills.
New books will give students more opportunities to explore stories, ideas, and information, while Reading Corners will make those books easier to access during the school day. Just as importantly, Teacher Training will help educators use reading materials effectively and create activities that encourage children to engage with books regularly.
The partnership will also support Literacy Programs designed to give children more opportunities to practice reading, build confidence, and strengthen foundational skills that support learning throughout school.

Through our Global Partnerships initiative, The Library Project works with locally led nonprofit organizations to strengthen and expand children’s literacy programs worldwide. We provide funding, capacity building, fundraising support, and free resources to help our partners grow their impact and reach more children.
