Bringing Digital Libraries and Books to Rural Schools in Myanmar

September 9, 2026In Myanmar3 Minutes

The Library Project is excited to welcome Tekkatho Foundation as our newest Global Partner, creating new opportunities to support children’s literacy in rural communities across Myanmar.

Tekkatho Foundation uses technology to make educational resources available in places where internet connectivity and reliable electricity can be limited. Its eTekkatho digital libraries bring books, learning materials, and other educational resources directly to schools and communities, including locations that might otherwise struggle to access them.

Connecting Rural Children with More Ways to Read

Through our new partnership, The Library Project will support Digital Libraries, Reading Rooms, Reading Corners, and Literacy Programs for rural elementary schools.

This combination of digital and physical resources gives schools flexibility. Digital libraries can significantly expand the range of learning materials available to students, while Reading Rooms and Reading Corners provide welcoming spaces where children can pick up a book, read together, and make reading part of their everyday school experience.

Tekkatho’s portable MyLibrary technology can store educational content locally and make it available without an internet connection. The platform also includes storybooks and learning resources from Myanmar publishers, helping extend access to locally relevant materials in hard-to-reach communities.

“We are excited to welcome Tekkatho Foundation as our newest Global Partner,” said Tom Stader, Executive Director & Founder of The Library Project. “Their innovative digital library model creates opportunities to bring educational resources into communities where connectivity can be a challenge. By combining that technology with physical books, reading spaces, and literacy programs, we can help rural schools give children more ways to read and learn.”

Through our Global Partnerships initiative, The Library Project works with locally led nonprofit organizations to strengthen and expand children’s literacy programs worldwide. We provide funding, capacity building, fundraising support, and free resources to help our partners grow their impact and reach more children.

Help us expand access to books and literacy resources for children in rural communities. Your support enables The Library Project to work alongside organizations like Tekkatho Foundation to bring reading opportunities to children regardless of where they live.
