Tata Supports Children’s Literacy with Nine Reading Corner Donations in Anhui

The Library Project is excited to announce a recent donation of nine Reading Corners to an elementary school in Anhui, China, made possible by the generous support of Tata. This donation included 1,200 children’s books, nine bookshelves, nine STEAM Boxes, nine globes, and library management training materials. Now, 1,299 students and 60 teachers have access to new reading spaces, promoting literacy and independent learning.

Since 2011, Tata has been a dedicated partner of The Library Project, supporting 23 elementary schools with Reading Rooms and Reading Corners. Their efforts have positively impacted the education of 10,164 students across rural China, ensuring children in underserved areas have access to the resources they need for academic success.

“Working with the people from Tata has been an honor,” said Tom Stader, Executive Director & Founder of The Library Project. “Their continued support of children’s literacy in China is making a profound difference in the lives of thousands of students, and we’re proud to collaborate with them on this meaningful work.”

Each Reading Corner is stocked with carefully selected books that align with The Library Project’s Book Content Core Values. These values ensure that the books emphasize diversity, inclusion, STEAM education, girls’ education, environmental awareness, and the promotion of world peace. By providing these high-quality resources, The Library Project ensures students receive academic support and the tools to develop empathy and critical thinking skills.

The Library Project is grateful for Tata’s commitment to improving education and literacy in rural China. This donation will have a lasting impact on the students and teachers, helping to cultivate a love of reading and learning for years to come.
