Tanjia Family Supports Literacy with a Reading Room Donation in Shanxi

The Library Project is thrilled to announce a recent Reading Room donation to an elementary school in Shanxi, China, made possible by the generous support of the Tanjia Family. The donation included 1,200 books, five tables, 30 chairs, six bookshelves, four STEAM Boxes, a globe, and essential library management training materials. This new Reading Room now serves 159 students and 16 teachers, providing them with a beautiful, resource-rich space to foster learning and exploration.

Since 2018, the Tanjia Family has consistently shown dedication to supporting children’s literacy in rural China. Their support has led to the establishment of 11 libraries, positively impacting the education of 3,499 students. Adding the Reading Room in Shanxi marks another step in their efforts to create educational opportunities for children attending rural elementary schools.

“Partnering with the Tanjia Family has been incredibly rewarding,” said Tom Stader, Executive Director & Founder of The Library Project. “Their commitment to improving children’s literacy in China is making a lasting difference, and we are proud to continue working with them to provide more children with access to books and learning resources.”

The Library Project’s commitment to meaningful and impactful book selection is at the heart of each library donation. Guided by the organization’s Book Content Core Values, the books provided in each library are carefully curated to emphasize diversity, inclusion, STEAM education, environmental awareness, girls’ education, and the promotion of world peace. These values ensure that the books educate and inspire students to think critically and compassionately.

The Tanjia Family’s continuous support underscores the impact of partnerships on transforming education. Through donations like this, children in rural areas gain the tools they need to succeed academically and personally, laying a solid foundation for lifelong learning and a brighter future.
