We've been working with some of the most amazing students, teachers & administrators, donors and volunteers over the years. Please take a moment to hear what a few of them have to say about The Library Project.

Student Testimonials

"I like the books because they are fun to read."
- 2nd grade student in the Shaanxi Province, China

"I like the new library. I would love to come here often. I don't know what my favorite book is, there are so many books."
- 3rd grade student in the Shaanxi Province, China

"I had never seen so many books before. Now my classmates and I borrow a book every Friday."-
- 6th grade student in the Anhui Province, China

"My favorite book is Water Margin (a classic Chinese novel also known as Outlaws of the Marsh. The story follows the activities of Song Jiang, a heroic bandit leader, as he fights evil and corruption.). I learn courage from those heroes. I also learn lots of excellent words and sentences, as well as ancient Chinese wisdom from the stories."

Teacher & Administrator Testimonials

"A library means having an alternative source of literacy tools for pupils. Because these children live in a rural area, many of their parents have left for the cities to earn money. The education is usually left to the grandparents, who are ill-equipped to educate the children. Libraries provide the missing link in their education and turn students on to mentally engaging hobbies. I am glad to have such a library."
- Principal in the Anhui Province, China

"Students living in small villages are longing for books. Thanks to the donation, our students living in the remote areas now have access to the outside world."
- Teacher in the Anhui Province, China

Donor Testimonials

"They are very donor-oriented. They are a small NGO, so we don’t have to handle the bureaucracy involved with some of the larger NGOs."
- Julie Liu, chairwoman of Cummins’ Corporate Social Responsibility Committee

"We are very impressed by what we saw on our recent visit to Xi'an and Langao County, where we have donated three libraries. Local teachers explained how the books were having a measurable impact on the reading ability of their students. And the enthusiasm of the children themselves is infectious!"
- Graham Thompson, The Blackford Trust

"I have been extremely impressed with how much they do and how many people they impact with how few people actually work at The Library Project. When I saw what The Library Project was doing, I thought it was perfect – a simple, but effective way to improve the educations of those who may not otherwise have a chance."
- Allen Garber, repeat donor funding four elementary school libraries

“The two main drivers of the Pratt & Whitney Management (Shanghai) CSR team are education and children. We are proud to be supporting The Library Project, as they are extremely passionate about changing the lives of children.”
- Natalie Lowe, Business Development and Communications Manager and Chairwoman of the Pratt & Whitney Management (Shanghai) CSR Committee

"You’ve heard of ‘win-win’, but how about ‘win-win-win’? That’s what The Library Project, ClarkMorgan and thousands of HR professionals around China have achieved with our book collection project. A ticket to one of our three-hour demonstration courses is the donation of a children’s book, and as many HR professionals are mothers themselves, many books come pre-loved, and therefore, free. The Library Project receives the books, the client receives the training, and ClarkMorgan maintains our CSR commitment (and kudos!). That’s win-win-win."
- Morry Morgan, General Manager, ClarkMorgan Corporate Training

"From the very first libraries in 2 orphanages in Dalian, Liaoning Province, we have always been behind the Library Project and believed in their mission. Running book-donations at our schools across the country and often helping with the actual library setup, we have been able to not only provide students with the books that are so vital to their education, but we have also been able to provide our own staff and students with great opportunities to get involved with a great cause."
- Adam Godwin, Executive Vice President of Aston Educational Consulting

Volunteer Testimonials

"Volunteering with The Library Project was one of the most rewarding experiences I had in China. Books which are attractive to read are essential for young learners, and the smiles on the children's faces when we set up the libraries and/or reading corners were priceless. The team were also great fun to work with. To this day, this remains the most meaningful project I ever took part in."
- Claire Partouche, MSc Information and Library Studies - TLP Volunteer 2008-2009

"I have volunteered with the Library Project numerous times. On each occasion I was impressed with their level of dedication, enthusiasm and all-round professionalism. Each day was a fun occasion."
- Gareth Blackett, Graphic Designer at Xi'anEase

"I have really enjoyed volunteering for The Library Project, particularly going out to the really rural schools and assisting in setting up their new libraries. The eagerness and joy on the childrens' faces tells the story of what these Libraries mean to them. The rural kids have a thirst to discover what all the colorful books contain, and looking at the little villages they live in, has enabled me to see a side of China I would not normally have seen. It is therapeutic for me personally to escape the city for a day and spend it in a worthwhile way with The Library Project. I have great admiration for Tom ad his team; they are all dedicated to bringing knowledge and a glimpse of the outside world to rural China through the books they supply the schools. Keep up the wonderful work!"
- Bev - TLP Volunteer 2008-2009

"I took part in The Library Project’s donation activity by chance. My boring campus life made me want to try something new. At the very beginning, I really didn’t think a lot about how and why I should get involved. Things changed after my first time going out with The Library Project’s team for to donate a library to a rural elementary school. I found that there were so many kids eager for books! The organization led by Tom has done a lot to search for people in need and has many friends that get involved. You know, they’ve done a lot before I realized that I should be one of them! I join in The Library Project activities when I am available, and I also to practice my oral English skills by communicating with some of their foreign volunteers. At the same time, the happy and friendly members of The Library Project, Jocelyn and Belinda, have strengthened my decision to return again. The Library Project is so special; it shows that it is different from the ones I’d volunteered with before. My volunteer work at The Library Project’s 2nd Annual Charity Fundraiser at the Shangri-la Hotel opened my minds to how to hold a charity event. I like The Library Project. Volunteering with The Library Project helps you realize your own value, open your mind, enrich your life, while making new friends."
- Xing Zhao Long - TLP Volunteer 2008-2009

"The muddy playground and old desks can’t hide the rays of the children’s eyes as they read. This keeps me far from the noisy world and brings me to the rare simplicity and pureness of helping others. Every time I volunteer with The Library Project, I feel that the children are helping me—bringing me happiness, making me to be simple and pure when facing my boring daily life. Thanks to all the children, for the pure of lights in their eyes, and their longing for beautiful things in their pure hearts."
- Roc Liu - TLP Volunteer 2008-2009
