SONG SHU GOU ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
The Library Project and The Nexus donated over 500 Chinese language children¡¯s books, two bookshelves, plants and a globe to the Song Shu Gou Elementary School. We also donated colorful paint for the old desks and stools, and white paint for the walls to brighten the classroom up. This library donation was made possible through the support of The Nexus, a student group at the Shanghai High School International Division.

Song Shu Gou Elementary School is located in rural Bayuan Town, Lantian County in the Shaanxi Province of China. There are 11 students that attend grades 1-2 that at Song Shu Gou Elementary School. Most of the student¡¯s parents work locally as farmers.

Song Shu Gou Elementary School is one of twenty ¡°Level 3¡± elementary schools in Bayuan Town. A Level 3 elementary school is the lowest level that a school can hold in China. This usually means that it is under-funded, remote, and has few educational resources found at the school.

Song Shu Gou Elementary School is in the Qin Ling Mountains, one of the largest mountain ranges in the Shaanxi Province. It is accessible via a winding paved road. The school construction is mud, brick, cement and wood.

Song Shu Gou Elementary School has an incredible school Principal who also acts as the only teacher. Mr. Yu teaches all three classes in one single classroom.

During our Pre Assessment we found that Song Shu Gou Elementary School did not have a library, or any books that could be used as a secondary curriculum.
