Financials
The Library Project is an IRS recognized non-profit which takes great pride in our financial efficiency, our accountability to donors and our transparency. We strive to use every dollar contributed as efficiently as possible.
The Library Project produces in-depth Annual Reports. It is important that all donors and volunteers truly understand how The Library Project spends their generous financial contributions and how our projects benefit the children of China. The Library Project constantly strives for 100% transparency.
Highlights of our 2010 financial year include:
- Programmatic spending constituted 80% of our total expenses, meaning that only 20 cents out of every dollar spent went toward overhead.
- US$159,003 invested toward our programs – a 35% increase over the prior year's total of US$102,660.
- 125 libraries donated in 2010, of those:
- 73 "Reading Corners" donated
- 52 "Reading Rooms" donated
- Reached out to 5 additional provinces in 2010, for a total of 20 provinces
- Over 10,000 volunteers supported TLP in 2010
- Fundraised $280,573 USD in 2010
- As of December 31, 2010:
- we donated 350 libraries
- over 250,000 children's books have been donated
- over 100,000 children have access to our donated libraries
