Step-by-Step Guide At The Library Project, we believe education is the key motivator to breaking the cycle of poverty that exists in the developing world, and books are at the foundation of a strong educational system. For many children in rural China, the gift of books truly is a gift of hope. Access to an education is one of the only opportunities young people have to end the cycle of poverty and attain a better quality of life than previous generations. The Library Project works to improve the educational infrastructure found in rural elementary schools in China.

Step 1	Communication Talk with your HR Manager at your company regarding organizing a book collection for The Library Project. You or your HR Manager can contact our Project Manager, Nichole He, to help organize the book collection.

Step 2	Poster and Flyer Download The Library Project poster and flyer. The poster can be printed in 1-2 days at a local print-shop for about ¥75. The flyer can be emailed out to colleagues to help raise awareness about The Library Project. Click on the links below to download the poster and flyer. Step 3	Planning Set a one-two week period to conduct the book collection. Find an area in the office to collect the books. Generally it is best to pick a "lunch room" or at one person's desk so that someone can "thank" the employee that is donating the books.

Step 4	Advertise Send an email one week before the book collection asking people to donate a Chinese language children's book. For more information on the specific kinds of books The Library Project needs, pease click here. Be sure to mention in the email: the book collection time and dates, where to drop off the donated books, information on The Library Project and who to contact with questions. The Library Project will provide your company with photos of the school and students that received the donated books via email. It is very important to tell people exactly the kinds of books you would like to collect.

Step 5	Collecting Books As each person donates a book, it is a good idea to take down their name and email address. This is for your record, so that when The Library Project emails photos of the completed school library donation, you can forward them to each person that participated in the book collection.

Step 6	Shipping Books Contact a local shipping company to pick-up the books from your office and deliver them to The Library Project's Xi'an office. Step 7	Photos The Library Project will send via email photos of the donated books to a rural elementary school. You can then email these photos out to the colleagues that participated in the book collection. This is a great way to show that their donation made a difference in at a rural elementary school.

第三步	计划安排一到两周的时间来开展图书募集活动。首先在公司设置图书募集专用位置，“午餐休息室”或摆设一张“图书募集桌”都是不错的选择。这样不仅方便图书募集点的工作人员记录图书捐赠信息，同时还能向每一位捐赠者表示感谢。

第四步	宣传在活动开始前一周或更早的时候向同事们或员工们发送有关图书募集活动事宜的电子邮件---号召大家捐赠中文儿童图书。请点击这里察看《捐赠图书选择标准》。邮件中一定要提及：活动时间，起止日期，图书募集点的位置，《捐赠图书选择标准》，中华捐书会简介以及中华捐书会联系人。《捐赠图书选择标准》至关重要。因为它将保证募集到的图书是适合儿童阅读的书籍。

第五步	图书募集当每位图书捐赠者募捐一本图书时，请留下他/她的姓名及电子邮箱地址。这样既方便您保存记录，也方便您在接收到我们发送的图书馆捐照片后转发送给每位活动参与者。

Chinese Language Children's Books

The Library Project collects Chinese language children’s books to donate to rural elementary schools throughout China. It is our goal to donate the best quality children's books to each school. Below is a list of the kinds of used books that we are looking to collect at our book collections.

Language: All books will be in the Chinese language

Publisher: All books must be published in China

Age Group: Suitable for Elementary School children

Kind / Style: Full color, duo-tone, over sized and odd sized, high quality children’s books

Subject Matter: History, science, short stories, fairy tales, pinyin books for young readers, children’s dictionaries, children’s reference books, comic books, etc.

Book Source: Used or new books

Used Books: All books need to be in good condition, with no writing or marks, and no ripped pages.

Shipping your donated books to The Library Project's Xi'an offices is quick, easy and inexpensive. We recommend using the below shipping companies in Beijing and Shanghai. After you have conducted your book collection, contact one of the companies below to make arrangements to send books to Xi'an.

The Library Project has partnered with the Xi’an Charity Association to provide books and libraries to rural elementary schools in China. The Library Project can issue tax-deductive Chinese fapiaos in the name of the Xi’an Charity Association.
